Another night of protesting is planned in Merrick, and a business in neighboring Seaford is taking extra precautions.
Carissa Cillis, co-owner or What a Girl Wants Boutique, said concerned customers reached out to her earlier in the week after hearing about possible looting in the area.
Cillis said she supports protesters. What is making her anxious is people who have been resorting to looting and violence.
On Tuesday night, they boarded up their windows and doors with plywood as many stores have done in Manhattan and across the country.
"Business is down probably 80% and we are really just fighting to survive right now. We don't think we could take a chance with any other type of loss," she added.
