Hundreds of volunteers dressed in holiday costumes gathered in Amityville Sunday morning for the Kids Need More More Eighth annual Holiday Cheer Bus event.

Volunteer elves loaded over 40 buses with donated gifts and delivered more than 1,000 gifts to Long Island children with difficult illnesses.

Organizers said many of the volunteers were recipients from previous years.

Besides the reward of spreading the holiday cheer this season, Santa's elves competed for the coveted "Cup of Cheer."
