A Massapequa nurse practitioner reunited with the physician assistant who gave her a kidney.
Melissa Moscola and Nicole Salant have a special bond.
Moscola says she decided to get tested to help Salant, who desperately needed a kidney transplant.
"It really impacted by life," explained Salant.
Moscola soon learned she was a match and started the process to become a kidney donor for a longtime friend.
"I am healthy. I was able to do this for her and help someone in need," says Moscola, of Melville.
Last month, they underwent a successful kidney transplant operation at North Shore University Hospital. Salant says,
"She is my hero. She gave me my life back."
The two women are recovering well.
