A Commack girl is back on the dance floor doing what she loves after undergoing kidney transplant surgery.
Emily Alanko was born with one kidney that wasn’t functioning properly due to a rare genetic disorder.
Earlier this year, the 11-year-old’s brother, Dr. Daniel Alanko, donated a kidney to his sister.
Emily returned to Cohen’s Children’s Hospital where she got the transplant and thanked doctors who helped make it possible.
Emily performed a dance for the doctors who helped save her life to say thank you.
