Two men attacked a woman in a Roosevelt Field Mall parking lot in Garden City Thursday night, but they got a surprise when the victim fought back.

The woman, in her 20s, left the Export Fitness Gym around 10 p.m. According to police, one man then pushed her inside her 2006 Lexus. Police said another man jumped into the back seat, demanded the keys and began punching her in the head. However, the woman screamed and repeatedly kicked the horn. Another gym member heard the screams and called 911

Mall security was not around to witness the attack. After hearing of the incident, some shoppers said they feel safety is a problem at night.

Despite similarities between the Roosevelt Field Mall incident and an attack at Nassau Community College Wednesday, police say there is no apparent connection.
