Suffolk police arrested a rookie New York City cop Wednesday for allegedly attempting to have sex with a teenage girl.

Police say 25-year-old David Mena chatted explicitly with someone he thought was a 14-year-old girl and tried to meet up with her to have sex. According to police, Mena also e-mailed the girl naked pictures of himself. The girl turned out to be an undercover Suffolk police officer, which led to Mena's arrest. During his arrest, Mena resigned on the spot after just a couple of weeks on the job.

Mena will be charged with attempted dissemination of indecent material to a minor, a felony. His arraignment is scheduled for Thursday.
