The cold weather has many residents scrambling to find their heavy winter coats, gloves and scarves, especially those who had to be outside Monday night.
Tommy Carvallo wrangles shopping carts outside the ShopRite supermarket in Plainview. He says that good vibes and listening to good music get him through the frigid shifts.
The freezing cold also has residents thinking about the snow that will eventually hit, and they are preparing accordingly.
Jaro Parizek, who works at an Ace Hardware store, says that most people are now coming in for items like ice melt, antifreeze and shovels.
According to the National Weather Service, Tuesday will see continued cold with highs around 30 degrees.
