A plan to build a new community dock on the North Shore is not sitting well with some residents.
Some community members say they're upset that the Village of Poquott has decided to build a dock off of one of its parks, and that they were not given a chance to vote on the proposal.
Protesters say the mayor and village board made the decision at a Village Hall meeting last Thursday without input from residents.
They say the plans call for a 128-foot by 4-foot dock to be built in California Park at the end of Washington Street.
Residents say they were told it would cost $255,000.
Protesters say they collected over 207 petition signatures to require referendum for taking on a large, long-term loan to build the dock, but that the village board found a way to circumvent the vote.
Now residents are asking the village to do what's fair and allow residents to have a say in the matter.
News 12 has reached out to the mayor for a comment but has not yet heard back.
