New research published in the journal
Scientific Reports shows that spending time walking or doing other activities outdoors, especially in green spaces, is good for you.
The study found that people who spent two or more hours a week outdoors reported being in better health and having a greater sense of well-being than people who didn't get out at all.
News 12 spoke with parents say they make a point of getting outdoors for a walk or playing with their children on a daily basis. They say the sunshine, fresh air and beauty of nature are good for the mind and body.
Doctors say reaping the benefits of performing physical activity outdoors is also good for your wallet. That's because if you're healthier, you won't need to spend as much on medical bills.
