Two battling bucks got their antlers entangled Tuesday at a Smithtown golf course.

Rescuers at the Sweetbriar Nature Center say one deer had soccer netting stuck in its antlers. They say when the two began fighting, both bucks' antlers became entangled.

Those who responded had to cut off a piece of one of the buck's antlers to free them.

The deer that had the netting around its antler ran off as soon as it was freed. The other buck had to rest, but left the area the next day.

The buck that did have part of its antler cut off did not feel any pain because fully formed antlers have no nerve endings.
