Rep.-elect Lawler refuses to endorse Trump's calls to terminate parts of the Constitution

Lawler was asked on CNN about his thoughts. "I obviously don't support that. The Constitution is set for a reason - to protect the rights of every American and so, I certainly don't endorse that language or that sentiment.

Rep.-elect Mike Lawler (R) is speaking out against former President Donald Trump's calls to terminate parts of the Constitution and reinstate him to power.
Trump made the comment on Truth Social and still claims the 2020 election was rigged.
Trump said, "massive Fraud of this type and magnitude allows for the termination of all rules, regulations, and articles, even those found in the Constitution.",
Lawler was asked on CNN about his thoughts. "I obviously don't support that. The Constitution is set for a reason - to protect the rights of every American and so, I certainly don't endorse that language or that sentiment.
Lawler went on to say, "We need to look forward and stop focusing on the grievances of the 2020 election, and that Trump should do the same for his presidential bid."
Also, Lawler is offering his full support for Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy in his rocky bid for House speaker.
A handful of far-right members of Congress are holding back their support for McCarthy, who could only afford to lose a few votes on Jan. 3. "Frankly, we're not going to be held hostage by a handful of members when the overwhelming majority of the conference is in full support of Kevin. I think the objective here needs to be to focus on our agenda and what we all got elected on."
McCarthy needs 218 votes to become House speaker.
