Gov. Kathy Hochul's 2025 State of the State address focused on affordability, especially for young families.

She is proposing an increase to the child tax credit, tripling the maximum benefit for families with kids under the age of four to $1,000 a year, and $500 a year for families with children between 4 and 16 years old.

Hochul also proposed $110 million in funding for construction of new child care facilities, and renovating existing ones.
