yesterdayFloral Park residents can breathe a sigh of relief now that a man wanted in a double murder in Queens has been taken into custody.
NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch says that Jamel McGriff was taken into custody around 6 p.m. on Wednesday.
McGriff was wanted in connection to the killing of a couple in their 70s. He is accused of robbing the couple and setting fire to their home.
Floral Park police increased patrols on Wednesday as authorities searched for McGriff. Bellerose, Queens, is just a stone’s throw from Floral Park.
Residents were urged to be aware of their surroundings and not to let any strangers into their homes.
McGriff was arrested in Midtown Manhattan and will now face charges related to the crime.
