During an undercover investigation, officers came to Stop n Nyamm, a Jamaican restaurant in Shirley, and bought cocaine from owner Carlton Williams and his nephew Rohan Rose multiple times.

According to a press release from the District Attorney’s Office, Williams allegedly retrieved the drugs from a soda can with a false bottom.

On Feb. 13, police conducted a search warrant at the restaurant and Williams’ apartment. They found 1.5 kilos of cocaine and a half kilo of fentanyl at Williams’ apartment as well as $39,000 in cash and other drug paraphernalia. Police say they also found drugs and cash at the restaurant.

The building owner told News 12 she didn’t know anything about the drugs until she saw a SWAT team show up at the building last month.

“I’m very surprised about what’s going on. I didn’t expect this,” she said. “It seemed like he had a fantastic business. I don’t believe there’s any need for him to do what I hear he’s done. And it’s just a shame that it’s happened.”

Both men are being charged with criminal possession and sale of a controlled substance among other charges. Williams could face up to 20 years in prison if convicted and Rose could face up to nine years.
