LIPA and PSEG are warning customers that they may see bigger bills next month.
LIPA is boosting the so-called power supply portion of customer bills by almost 27 percent next month.
PSEG Long Island, which operates the system for LIPA, says the cost per kilowatt hour will be 9.3 cents in November - up 2 cents from last month. The utility says it has to make up for undercharging customers earlier this year. It also says it's expecting fuel prices to go up this winter.
PSEG Long Island says the delivery portion of customers' bills will not rise. The company made an agreement with the governor's office not to raise that portion of the bill through 2015.
