A man was stabbed to death inside of a Trenton arena during a high school basketball tournament.
The Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office says it happened around 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the CURE Insurance Arena. A spokesperson for the office says 23-year-old Khalil Glanton was stabbed multiple times. It was not clear if Glanton is connected to the basketball tournament.
Trenton Mayor Reed Gusciora called the incident “horrific” and says it is under active investigation.
“This should have been a time of celebration. Instead, we have to be in pursuit of someone who was determined to cause harm at last night’s game, Gusciora said.
The New Jersey Interscholastic Athletic Association released a statement and said, "The NJSIAA is monitoring the situations related to yesterday's basketball games in Camden and Mercer County, while awaiting additional information from authorities and all involved schools.”
No arrests have been made.
