An inactive rifle round was found on the floor of Northport High School Tuesday, according to a letter sent by the principal.

The school was put into "hold-in-place" protocols temporarily as police inspected the building with school administration.

No weapons were found.

Out of an abundance of caution, all after-school activities were canceled.
