A Valley Stream man has been accused of attempted assault after he was fired from his job.
Christopher Hicks, 32, was employed as a mechanic at County Truck and Auto on East Merrick Road. Detectives say he became enraged after he was fired from his job and threw a muffler at a vehicle that was being worked on inside the shop.
Police say Hicks exited the shop, retrieved a handgun from his car and fired two shots into the open bay doors where some employees were working.
There were no injuries reported.
After fleeing the scene, police say Hicks was placed under arrest at his home on North Corona Avenue. He is being charged with assault, criminal possession of a weapon, reckless endangerment and criminal mischief.
Hicks was remanded to jail after pleading not guilty at his arraignment.
