Police: Man who grabbed Eastern Middle School student had child porn on his phone

A man who has been arrested for grabbing an Eastern Middle School student in Greenwich is facing additional charges after police discovered child pornography on his phone.

Police say on Sept. 11 at 8:11 a.m., a 13-year-old girl was grabbed from behind by a man she did not know while walking to school near Lockwood Road and Breezemont Avenue.

Following an investigation, Hector Romero Vargas was arrested in connection with the assault. Police say Romero Vargas' cellphone was seized as evidence. A forensic investigation found child porn on the phone.

Police also discovered screenshots associated with a concealed video recording device that was placed in a bathroom at a establishment in town.

Romero Vargas arrested on May 14 and charged with voyeurism and possession of child sexual abuse material.
