Two women had to lock themselves in a stock room Saturday at the Roosevelt Field Mall after a man, who was already banned from the property, exposed himself to them, police said.
Police said the incident occurred at the mall’s Kate Spade store just before 10:30 a.m. Saturday.
Officers said the man approached the female victims, ages 19 and 42, exposed himself and chased after them. The victims then locked themselves in a room.
Authorities identified the suspect as Dwight Clermont, 27, of Amityville. They said he tried to get into the room that the women were hiding in before leaving the scene. The women immediately called police.
Police quickly located Clermont, and he was arrested on multiple charges, including public lewdness. He is undergoing a psychiatric evaluation and will be arraigned on Monday.
Clermont was found to have two active arrest warrants against him and was previously banned from the mall.
Detectives are also asking anyone who may have been victimized by Cleront to contact police at 1-800-244-TIPS.
