yesterdayA search is on for the man who police say tried to lure two children into his car in the parking lot of a supermarket.
Police say the incident happened at the Stop & Shop on Atlantic Avenue in Oceanside just after 6 p.m. Monday.
When a woman with her children, ages 11 and 5, went to get a shopping cart, she says a man waved and signaled for the kids to come over to him.
Police say when the kids refused, the suspect took off in a gold Dodge pickup. News 12 is told the vehicle has a blue wheelbarrow in the back.
Police are asking anyone with information in the case to call Nassau Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
