Police say a man was arrested Friday night for allegedly killing his wife in 2010.
As News 12 previously reported, Nicole Tessa's body was found near her North Patchogue home days before Christmas 2010.
Tessa's husband Joseph Jones told investigators at the time that he had a fight with Tessa before she disappeared.
In a 2010 interview with News 12, Jones appeared upset as he discussed his then-missing wife. "I have looked everywhere, you know?" he said. "All around the neighborhood, the woods everywhere."
It's not yet clear what led to Jones' arrest.
Jones' current girlfriend, Melinda Oblatore, told News 12 in an exclusive interview that she is standing by him. She says the they have been dating for three years and they live together with Oblatore's children in Centereach.
Oblatore insists that Jones is innocent. She says Jones told her his wife was murdered on their first date.
"He's amazing with children, he's amazing with me. He's never, ever gotten violent with me," Oblatore told News 12. "He's never landed a hand on me. I'm bipolar, I've gotten violent for him, and he just stood there. He's not this person."
However, Tessa's family believes police have the right suspect in custody. Her sister told News 12, "I'm just so happy, finally justice is going to be served."
Jones is due to be arraigned on Murder charges on Monday. Oblatore says she will be there to support him.
