A seventh grade girl was approached by a middle-aged man with facial hair on her way to school and asked if she needed a ride, according to the school's principal.

Police are stepping up patrols at Lindenhurst Middle School this morning after a student was approached by a man.
A seventh grade girl was approached by a middle-aged man with facial hair on her way to school and asked if she needed a ride, according to the school's principal.
The student called her friend and continued to walk, officials say.
The man was driving a white, four-door car, and there were full large black trash bags in the back seat of the car, according to the student.
The incident occurred on South Wellwood Avenue across from CVS Monday morning around 7 a.m.
