A Great Neck man is facing charges after resisting arrest and punching an officer in the face Tuesday in Mineola.

Authorities say police officers responded to 400 County Seat Drive to assist Nassau County Probation with a probation visit.

Upon arrival, the officers were told that 24-year-old Michael Thomas refused to comply to verbal commands and resisted a probation officer attempting to take him into custody.

Thomas then struck an officer in the face, according to authorities. That officer was hospitalized for treatment.

Thomas was eventually placed under arrest. He will face a judge Wednesday.
