A man was stabbed inside an Amityville funeral home Tuesday during a robbery, police say.
The incident happened at Joseph A Slinger- Hasgill Funeral Services on 155 Sunrise Highway at 11:40 a.m.
The victim was transported to a hospital for minor injuries.
Police say he had his phone and wallet stolen.
Employees of the funeral home say the victim is the owner. They say they can’t understand why it happened.
“I was very shocked that it happened here,” says David Delgado, who works at the funeral home. “Funeral homes don’t have these types of activities, so I was very shocked when I heard about it. I ran from Queens to see what was going on.”
Delgado says he had left only a little while before the robbery took place.
Police say there were several other employees inside when the robbery happened.
They say the two male suspects are still at large.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
