A police officer was injured Friday night in an apparent DWI crash in West Babylon.
Officers say around 9:25 p.m., a 2006 Ford Expedition crashed into an officer’s highway patrol vehicle from behind as it was traveling westbound on Sunrise Highway.
The impact of the crash caused the car to spin before hitting the center median wall, police say.
The officer was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening.
The driver of the Ford Expedition, 37-year-old Bridgette Acaiturri, of Lindenhurst, was taken to Good Samaritan University Hospital with minor injuries.
She has been charged with DWI.
