State police say a woman punched a trooper in the face while she was being arrested for DUI on Route 8 in Bridgeport Saturday night.

Police say they were questioning 28-year-old Jessica Reyes, of Derby, when she lost her balance and fell toward the left lane. When the trooper grabbed her to keep her from falling into the highway, they say Reyes punched the trooper in the chin and spat in the trooper's face several times.

Reyes was charged with assault on a police officer and DUI. She is due in court Feb. 24.
