Sources say a subcontractor working for the state's Department of Transportation was struck and killed on the job.
A fatal crash on the Long Island Expressway shut down the westbound lane at Exit 46 Wednesday, officials say.
Police say they were called around 12:40 p.m. The LIE was also closed along with the northbound Seaford-Oyster Bay exit.
The roadway reopened around 5 p.m.
Sources tell News 12 that the worker got out of his truck to inspect the roadway when he was fatally struck.
