Authorities say a gamer that lost a round of "Call of Duty" called police to the winner's home in Long Beach and claimed there was a shooting.

Police say they received a 911 call from a man stating that he had killed his mother and brother at a home on Laurelton Boulevard. More than 70 emergency responders, including police, emergency services officers and SWAT teams with guns drawn, swarmed the home. Soon after, it was learned that the call was a hoax.

Police say the hoax was part of a national trend called "swatting," where a losing player calls police in an effort to bring the maximum amount of emergency response vehicles to the winner's home.

Long Beach Police Commissioner Michael Tangney says the fictitious 911 call was made via Skype. Police officials say they are using the loser's IP address in an effort to find the prank caller.

They say the offender can face multiple charges and be held responsible to pay the bill for the emergency response.
