President Donald Trump says Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers will be assisting TSA at airports beginning Monday amid the ongoing partial government shutdown.
The president took to Truth Social Sunday morning saying ICE will help, "our wonderful TSA agents who have stayed on the job."
Airports have had long wait times during the staffing shortage and federal funding lapse.
In his post, President Trump blamed Democrats for the conditions TSA agents have had to operate under and said Tom Homan, the White House border czar, would be running the operation.
The president’s social media post did not lay out how ICE agents would assist TSA or how many ICE agents would be deployed.
