Police were on alert today at
schools across Long Island following a post circulating on TikTok that
threatens potential violence.
The post comes with a
challenge encouraging students to make a threat against their school.
Several districts have been
warning parents and said there will be an increased police presence today as
a precautionary measure.
However,
officials in both Nassau and Suffolk say they know of no credible threats at
this time.
Nassau
Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder alerted residents about a post on the social
media app encouraging students to make a threat against their school on Friday.
"You
get more points and more hits when you do a post," Ryder says. "The
kids are pushing it out and they have no idea what they're getting themselves
into when they do this."
Some parents and school staff News 12 spoke to said there was something
about this particular threat that made them feel uneasy.
