A man with a loaded handgun was arrested for pulling car door handles in New Cassel on Friday, according to police.

Authorities say they responded to Magnolia Avenue at 4 a.m. and apprehended 20-year-old Melvin Daniels, of Hempstead.

Police say he is also accused of attacking an individual while in a holding cell.

The charges against him include criminal possession of a weapon, assault and criminal possession of stolen property.

He is set to be arraigned on Saturday at First District Court in Hempstead.
