Two teenagers were arrested in connection to vandalizing a "We Stand With Israel" sign in Searingtown, police say.
They say a 14-year-old, who is not being identified because of his age, tore the sign Monday outside of the Shelter Rock Jewish Center.
Police say 18-year-old Raiah Rafiq, of Albertson, drove the 14-year-old there. He is facing charges, including endangering the welfare of a child.
The 14-year-old is facing a felony charge of criminal mischief.
Susan Pavane, president of the Shelter Rock Jewish Center, released a statement, saying, "We have always had very good relations with our neighbors. The whole Shelter Rock community is a wonderful community. It has been so discouraging and sad to have this happen here. We hope going forward we can work together and we are so willing to talk to each other, but not to deface and ruin things on other people's property."
