A text message regarding a senior prank day circulated around to Uniondale High School students Wednesday, but when they arrived at school they were met with an unpleasant surprise.
According to students, the senior prank is supposed to occur June 6. But when they arrived at school Wednesday morning some say their books, bags and cell phones were confiscated upon entering the building. Some students say the school wouldn?t let them enter at all.
Tenth-grader Chanel Moyer says the text message mentioned, ?Bring everything we can to make the school a mess like ammonia and different things like Nair for the girls? hair."
According to district officials, in an effort to discourage any pranks from happening, a message was sent out, "...asking all students to leave their book bags home or submit to a bag check upon entering the school." Officials state, "Several students would not comply with the bag check, causing the line to slow and leaving students waiting to enter the building."
Some students and parents say they did receive a message from the school district asking them not to bring book bags and cell phones to school. One parent received a phone call on Tuesday stating no book bags or cell phones were allowed on Thursday and Friday.
Parent Patrick Victome says sending the students away from school unsupervised was not a smart idea. "They could be fighting in the street - who's going to be responsible??
Uniondale district officials say the book bag policy will remain in effect through the end of the school year.
