A pedestrian was seriously injured after being hit by a car in West Babylon.
The incident happened Tuesday at 8:30 p.m. when the pedestrian was walking in the eastbound lanes of Sunrise Highway, between Exits 37 and 38, and was struck by a 2014 Kia Optima, according to the Suffolk County Police Department.
The victim, whose name is not being released pending notification of next of kin, was transported to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip for treatment of serious injuries.
The driver was not injured, and the car was impounded for a safety check.
