Police say a passenger was seriously injured after falling through a gap on the Long Island Rail Road. 
The man slipped into the space between a train and the platform at Jamaica Station just after 3 p.m. yesterday. 
Officials tell Newsday the man was bleeding heavily and rushed to the hospital with leg injuries. 
The railroad began narrowing platform gaps following the death of a teen in 2007 and several other gap-related injuries.
