A racecar driver from Paramus is raising money to help lift a community's spirits after the deadly bus crash in northern Jersey.
Residents were at New Egypt speedway to kick off their Memorial Day weekend and watch some races.
One of the drivers at the raceway, John Criscione, grew up in Paramus and still lives there today. He will be fundraising Saturday night for the community that is still reeling from the May 17 bus crash that killed a student and teacher.
"It means a tremendous amount," Criscione said. "Everyone's got that saying of being really proud of your hometown and where you come from and the town of Paramus to me, the history of my family being there for as long as they have, it means a ton."
