A Levittown church suffered major damages after a fire broke out on Christmas Day.
Officials say the fire started at around 11:30 a.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church on Hempstead Turnpike.
Around 60 firefighters were able to get the fire under control, and the build suffered water and smoke damage.
Nobody was inside at the time. One firefighter suffered a minor knee injury.
The building is still structurally sound. The church was built back in 1950, when Levittown was becoming America's first suburb.
Most of the original stained glass windows were untouched by the fire and the Christmas tree made it through unscathed.
Pastor Remo Madsen says the church will continue to keep going despite the fire.
"My spirit is not destroyed, our spirit is not destroyed," Meedsen. "But unfortunately the sanctuary is… There is a hole up in the ceiling and there's a lot of water damage everywhere. The chairs are pretty much wrecked."
Madsen tells News 12 church services will be held Sunday, though they may have to be performed outside.
