Residents across Long Island are expected to hit the beach for the extended Labor Day weekend.
Officials are still limiting the number of people who can be on the beaches and they are urging people to continue following guidelines to help keep the spread of coronavirus low.
At the Syosset-Woodbury pool, signs are up to remind people to follow COVID-19 guidelines.
Workers are wiping down surfaces at that pool and at the Dix Hills Park Pool, which has now reopened after a lifeguard tested positive for coronavirus last weekend.
State beaches have extended their season and some pools will remain open for the remainder of the month.
Police are also out in force to watch out for people who may be drinking and driving or boating.
"We're gonna be out in a force looking for violations of navigation law, vehicle and traffic law," says Lt. Adam Fischer of the Nassau County Marine Bureau.
Last year, Suffolk County police say they arrested 42 people for driving while under the influence.
