Nassau County officials have unveiled a plan aimed at keeping children safe in school.

County Executive Ed Mangano says every school in the county will be equipped with five wireless panic alarms. In the event of an emergency, any teacher or principal can push the alarm to send an alert directly to the police.

Mangano insists that being prepared for the worst is always the best option.

The county has already implemented an "active shooter program" to help schools and local law enforcement most effectively deal with a shooter on campus.
