A Baldwin midwife is accused of falsifying vaccination records for nearly 1,500 children, according to the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH).
The Health Department says Jeanette Breen, who ran Baldwin Midwifery in Nassau County, gave children a series of oral pellets as an alternative to vaccinations, starting in 2019.
Breen was issued a $300,000 penalty for falsifying the vaccine records.
“Misrepresenting or falsifying vaccine records puts lives in jeopardy and undermines the system that exists to protect public health,” state Health Commissioner Dr. James McDonald said. “Let it be clear, the New York state Department of Health takes this issue seriously and will investigate and use all enforcement tools at its disposal against those who have been found to have committed such violations.”
The NYSDOH says the childrens' immunization records have been voided. The children must show they are up-to-date with required vaccines or in the process of getting them before returning to school.
