Officials confirm that an NYPD officer was shot in the foot this morning in Harlem.
NYPD officer Fausto Gomez is recovering after being shot outside Harlem Hospital around 5:30 a.m.
Police say Gomez was taking an emotionally disturbed person into the hospital for psychiatric evaluation when the incident occurred.
According to police, the handcuffed suspect managed to grab a gun from another officer's holster and fired two shots.
Cops say a paramedic managed to get the gun away from the suspect.
