According to the LIRR, a broken rail near the Wantagh station is causing lots of trains cancellations in both directions along the Babylon branch.
This is not the first problem this week with the LIRR. All week News 12 has been covering the weather-related issues with trains. There were several delays and cancellations due to the weather-related issues.
Every branch but two were affected during Wednesday morning's commute mostly because of weather related switch problems and equipment shortages. Riders also faced delays and cancellations on Tuesday.
LIRR president Rob Free blamed the extreme cold and said most trains ran with more than 97% of trips completed on Tuesday.
Crews are working to repair the broken rail near Wantagh.

Below are a list of the canceled trains:
Westbound:
- The 5:38am train from Wantagh to Penn Station is canceled. Customers can take the 5:25am train from Babylon to Penn Station instead, scheduled to arrive at Wantagh at approximately 5:46am.
- The 5:56am train from Wantagh to Grand Central is canceled. Customers can take the 5:45am train from Babylon to Grand Central instead, scheduled to arrive at Wantagh at approximately 6:06am.
- The 6:15am train from Wantagh to Penn Station is canceled. Customers can take the 6:03am train from Babylon to Penn Station instead, scheduled to arrive at Wantagh at approximately 6:24am.
- The 6:27am train from Wantagh to Grand Central is canceled. Customers can take the 6:15am train from Babylon to Grand Central instead, scheduled to arrive at Wantagh at approximately 6:36am.
- The 6:40am train from Wantagh to Penn Station is canceled. Customers can take the 6:28am train from Babylon to Penn Station instead, scheduled to arrive at Wantagh at approximately 6:49am.
- The 6:52am train from Wantagh to Penn Station is canceled. Customers can take the 6:45am train from Babylon to Grand Central instead, scheduled to arrive at Wantagh at approximately 7:06am. Transfer at Jamaica for continued service to Penn Station.
- The 7:09am train from Wantagh to Penn Station is canceled. Customers can take the 6:55am train from Babylon to Penn Station instead, scheduled to arrive at Wantagh at approximately 7:16am.
Eastbound:
- The 4:11am train from Penn Station to Massapequa is canceled. For service to Massapequa, customers can take the 4:28am train from Penn Station to Babylon. For service to all stops missed west of Massapequa, customers can board the 5:03am train from Babylon to Atlantic Terminal at Massapequa.
- The 6:45am train from Penn Station to Massapequa is canceled. Customers can take the 7:20am train from Penn Station to Babylon instead.
