New York Attorney General Letitia James is calling for all state troopers to wear body cameras following a death last year in upstate Wayne County.

Robert Scott died after being cuffed by state troopers. A medical examiner's report says the unarmed Scott died from cocaine intoxication and cardiovascular disease.

While James found the police restraint justified, she says police body cameras would've captured a more complete record of the incident.

News 12 spoke with Long Island drivers who say troopers patrolling state parkways should indeed wear body cameras.

And civil rights attorney Frederick Brewington says interactions between police and the community should be recorded.

New York State Police sent News 12 a statement saying their priority is to equip troopers with the best tools and, "...That includes our evaluations of camera technology and reviewing the Attorney General's recommendations."
