1h agoA possible nurses strike at St. Charles Hospital in Port Jefferson has been averted.
The New York State Nurses Association says a tentative agreement was reached late Saturday night.
The nurses' contract expired on March 31 and they had been negotiating for staffing improvements, better wages and benefits. A final contract ratification vote is set for Tuesday.
Statement from Catholic Health:

The tentative agreement ensures that our nurses continue to be supported with competitive salary increases and staffing improvements. Our nurses are vital to ensuring the communities we serve have access to the highest levels of care, and we are grateful for their dedication to our patients.”
