Researchers on Long Island are studying whether an antacid drug could be used as a COVID-19 treatment.
Northwell Health and Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory have begun an open, virtual clinical trial. They are trying to evaluate the safety and efficacy of PEPCID for the outpatient treatment of COVID-19 in adults.
If you've been diagnosed with COVID-19 and are recovering at home, you can participate.
Once diagnosed and enrolled, patients will get sent an iPad and other materials. They will also get either the antacid or placebo pills to take for two weeks.
Every day, patients will log their symptoms and vitals for researchers to study.
Those interested in participating are asked to contact ClinicalTrials@northwell.edu.
