Three men have been accused of burglarizing a North Valley Stream resident’s home while he was away on a family vacation this week.
Nassau police say the 42-year-old victim left his home on Wyngate Drive East on April 10. Two days later, he checked his home security cameras remotely and discovered they were not working properly.
He asked a family member to check on the cameras. Upon arrival, the family member found the side entrance door broken and the framing ripped off the home.
The cameras were also repositioned and had tape covering the lenses, according to investigators.
Police arrived at the scene shortly after. They discovered that the internet wiring connecting to the home had been cut and located a signal jammer nearby.
A search of the home’s interior determined that the bedroom closet had been ransacked. A safe containing $460,000 and $500,000 worth of jewelry was stolen.
Following an investigation involving multiple Nassau County police units, three men were placed under arrest.
The suspects have been identified as 58-year-old Vincent Repka, 53-year-old Nikitas Margiellos and 63-year-old Leonard Repka.
The men were set to be arraigned on burglary charges Wednesday in Hempstead.
