While all of Long Island is in the path of some major snowfall, the North Shore is due to see the most significant totals.
DPW crews from across the Shore were loaded up and prepared for the storm that is expected to drop snow into Thursday.
When snowfall began around 4 p.m. in Glen Cove, crews immediately headed to their trucks. Mayor Tim Tenke says there was no time to waste with this nor'easter.
"We're expecting anywhere from 8 to 14 inches of snow along the North Shore of Long Island. So we need to be ready for that and we are ready for that with our equipment and our men," says Tenke.
Town of North Hempstead Supervisor Judi Bosworth says crews began brining streets Tuesday and continued into Wednesday so that streets would not become icy as easily.
Officials said to expect possible power outages across the Island. Up to 12 inches of snow is possible by the time the nor'easter moves out.
