A team of "angels" in Suffolk County made sure kids are getting everything they need for the start of the school year.
Hundreds of families attended the Angels of Long Island back-to-school giveaway in East Patchogue on Saturday.
The nonprofit group started less than a year ago on Facebook, with a small group of neighbors helping neighbors. It has since grown to more than 35,000 members across Long Island.
The group also offered free haircuts to anyone in need, in addition to clothes and school supplies on Saturday.
"We just wanted to give back and we had a lot of people writing to us saying they were having a hard time for back-to-school," said Brittany Loesch.
Angels of Long Island will be hosting a winter coat giveaway in November.
