The LGBT Network invited teenagers from across Long Island Friday for a "Night of Noise."
Everyone who participated spray-painted hateful messages they have heard from bullies on a concrete wall.
Then they picked up a sledgehammer and broke the words one by one.
Students tell News 12 that busting down the "wall of hate" empowers them to embrace their differences.
"You can be who you are no matter what race or gender you are," says Eva Corneilus, of Bay Shore. "Just because you're a certain race or gender does not mean you can't do things and be who you are in a community."
Those who did participate refrained from speaking all day to symbolize the social isolation that bullying can cause.
